How to extract only the PDF pages you need
Use Split PDF to save selected pages into a new document. Source positions begin at 1. A cover or contents sheet can make these positions different from printed page numbers.
Practice on two identifiable pages
Download the two-page practice PDF. Page 1 is a fictional project handover with an illustration; page 2 is a checklist. In Split PDF, keep Selected pages → one PDF and enter 2. The result should contain one checklist page, with no project cover. Reopen the source to confirm it still has both pages.
Choose the output structure
- Selected pages → one PDF: use
1-3, 7for one attachment containing four selected pages. - One PDF per selected page: use when each page must be a separate file.
- Every N selected pages: groups by page count, not bytes. For an upload size requirement, use Split to Upload Limit.
- Odd/even: separates source page positions into two groups; check which file contains the intended front or back pages.
Understand ranges and order
2-4 selects pages 2, 3 and 4. Commas join selections. Descending ranges such as 4-2 are invalid. For a deliberate sequence, enter 4, 3, 2. Including a position twice can duplicate a page, so inspect the output count. Leave the selection blank only when you intend to use all pages.
Verify the selected section
- Confirm the first output page starts at the expected heading.
- Check that the last page ends at the right section boundary.
- Compare output count and order with your list. For
1-3, 7, expect four pages. - Open every downloaded part if you chose multiple files. A convenience ZIP must be unpacked before uploading individual PDFs.
Extracting pages can lose document-level navigation, form behaviour, tags or signature validity. Do not treat a visually correct preview as verification of those features. For choosing pages to discard instead, use Remove pages; at least one source page must remain.
