How to fill a PDF form on your phone
Fill existing PDF fields on a phone, check saved values and choose editable or flattened output. Learn what to do when a form has no interactive fields.
Open Fill PDF Forms in your phone's browser to complete supported existing fields. Choose the PDF from your device, enter answers in the detected controls and save a copy. File processing stays on your device; no account is needed.
Check which kind of form you have
An interactive PDF contains fields such as text boxes, checkboxes and choices. A static form is only page content, even when printed lines look like text boxes. Fill PDF Forms needs supported existing fields. For a static form, Annotate PDF can place visible text on a page, but that does not create interactive form fields.
Practice with fictional information
Download the synthetic practice form. It has a Name field and a checkbox. Use a fictional name such as Alex Example; the sample is not a real application and contains no personal information.
- Select a valid, unencrypted PDF within 50 MB. On a phone, start with a small representative form.
- Read the detected field labels. Enter the name, select the checkbox and check any supported choice controls. Latin text is supported.
- Leave Flatten fields after filling off when you need an editable copy. Enable it only after checking the values and confirming the recipient accepts a flattened form.
- Select Save filled PDF, preview and download the result. Save it using your browser's normal download or file-sharing controls.
- Find the downloaded copy in your phone's file manager and open it in a PDF reader. Check every value and page; do not accidentally reopen the blank source.
Editable versus flattened output
An editable result retains supported interactive fields. A flattened copy turns their appearances into page content, so they are no longer editable as fields. Keep an editable original when corrections may be required. Read the form-flattening guide before choosing a final format.
Flattening is not a password lock or proof of identity. A general PDF editor may still change fixed page content. A drawn or typed signature is not the same as a cryptographic digital signature or identity verification.
What if the form does not work?
Read-only fields, unsupported field types, complex appearances and XFA forms may not be editable here. Do not force a result with missing or clipped values. Keep the original and use the application recommended by the form's sender when necessary. Encrypted PDFs are not supported by this workflow.
Phone checks before sending
Zoom in to check long names and small text. Confirm checkbox states after reopening the saved file. A preview alone does not establish that every recipient's form system will accept the result. Follow the recipient's instructions, especially when it needs editable fields or an existing digital signature.
For an ordinary combined document pack, flatten completed source forms only if appropriate before building an application pack. Inspect the final pack again, because combining documents can change form and navigation features.
