Why a PDF will not open or finish processing
Start with the exact error and the task you were doing. A source that opens in a desktop reader can still contain encryption or features that this browser tool does not support. Keep the original while diagnosing a copy.
Separate file problems from task problems
- Password-protected file: this release does not open encrypted PDFs. Ask the owner for a suitable unencrypted copy or export one through an authorized workflow.
- Could not read the PDF: download it again and check that it is actually a PDF, not a renamed image or an error page saved with a .pdf extension.
- Page range error: use source positions within the document count, such as
1-3, 5. Printed numbering may differ. - No supported embedded images: the pages may be text or vector artwork. Use whole-page image conversion if you want the visible page.
- A page alone exceeds the upload limit: splitting cannot reduce the contents of one page. Consider compression if the destination accepts the resulting quality.
Check the environment with a known file
Open the two-page practice PDF in PDF Reader. If it opens but your document does not, investigate the source or its complexity. If neither opens, check that scripts are allowed, the page loaded completely and your browser is current. This comparison narrows the cause; it is not a diagnosis of every possible browser problem.
When processing stalls on a phone
A 50 MB file can expand into much larger images in memory. Close unrelated heavy tabs, retry with a shorter representative document, or use a desktop. Do not repeatedly submit an important file without first finding where processing fails. The browser's downloaded files are separate from an unsaved result in the workspace.
Report a reproducible problem
Send the support contact the tool URL, browser/device, file size, page count, selected options and exact error. Explain the expected output and whether the public practice PDF works. Use a synthetic reproduction when possible. Do not send passwords, private PDFs or identity documents.
