What happens when a PDF tool runs in your browser?
On PDF Tools Club, selecting a document gives the current page access to that selected file. The processing code reads it on your device and prepares a local result. The website still needs a network connection to deliver its interface and supporting files; local document processing does not mean the website makes no requests.
Follow one document through the workflow
- Open a tool. Your browser downloads the page and the code needed for that task.
- Choose a file. Its name appears in the workspace so you can identify it; document contents and filenames are not sent in analytics events.
- Process and preview. Device memory holds the working document and result. Large images can use far more memory than their compressed file size suggests.
- Download the result. It becomes a separate file in the location your browser uses. The source is not overwritten.
- Use Start over or close the workspace when done. Saved downloads and the original remain on your device and need normal file management.
Try without using a personal document
Use the two-page practice PDF in PDF to Text. Open the TXT download and check the fictional Project: Cedar text. The sample lets you learn the download flow before working with a document that matters.
What local processing does not protect against
A shared or compromised computer, an unsafe browser extension, someone viewing your screen or a cloud-synced downloads folder can expose information independently of this site's processing. A local tool also cannot certify that a PDF is safe or that all hidden information has been removed.
Separate documents from website measurement
Hosting requests can contain technical information such as IP addresses and browser details. Optional usage measurement has separate consent controls. Read the Privacy Notice for the current data handling and choices, or file privacy explanation for a short summary. Closing a tab is not a secure-erasure guarantee for your operating system.
Why a phone may stop processing
The file limit is not a promise that every document will fit in memory. Try a shorter source section or a desktop browser. Keep an original until the saved result has been checked in a second reader.
